Outgoing Chairmans report from AGM

For those who could not attend the AGM, Ian Buckley  presented the chairman’s report which included:  

  • Membership of 9,237 adult and 1,066 junior members bringing membership totaling a membership of 10,303.
  • Details of expenditure to support the team including funding of new Gym equipment. funding of Academy; rent of rooms for team at UL; and, team building events.
  • Financial support provided to Ladies Rugby in Munster.
  • Over €168000 in funding to Munster Rugby via the supporters club.
  • Achievements during the year included the success of a Giant Draw which resulted in €23,000 being donated to the Munster Academy. Other achievements included continued improvement on our Junior camps for our junior members particularly due to efforts of committee member, Elaine Blackshields. Hosted a very successful Academy conferring evening, attended by parents and academy players with CEO, Director or Rugby and Academy Manager.  Launch of weekly ezine Red Letter and the rescheduling of Red Alert to Bi-Monthly. Upgraded and relaunched our website, giving increased functionality and benefit to members. Patenting of our own Supporters club logo. Launch of a supporters club choir under the guidance of associate member Ellen Fitzmaurice.
  • Plan for the following season include the serious challenge to retain the existing membership particularly in light of the ticketing issue with regards associate members. Brussels meeting points for members have been successful and it is planned to continue assisting the Brussels group. Bar and function room facility has been made available to the club, this is to be progressed over the summer months with a sub-committee of members to be asked to examine the bar proposal and give recommendations.
  • Ian Buckley noted that the committee was extremely disappointed at not being in a position to increase the club to 10,000 full members as expected. Ian advised that the committee had meetings with the relevant parties regarding the issue and assured the meeting that the committee will continue to work to get as many full members as possible.

MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS NOW CLOSED

The renewal period for adult membership closed on 6th July. We are delighted that the membership of the Supporters Club has continued to grow and that we now have 9,577 adult members. This brings the total membership of the Supporters Club to 10,640 including junior members.
