DETAILS OF EMERALD RUGBY COACHING ROADSHOWS

Munster Clubs & Schools go 'Bok' to Basics .

Thursday 11th and Friday 12th of November will be fondly remembered by many school and club players as the day they were coached by 'The Mad South African' when the Emerald Rugby Coaching road shows in association with OB Sport rolled into Clonmel and Clonakilty.

Former Leicester Tigers player Pierre Durant, shared his considerable coaching experience with clubs and schools in Clonmel and Clonakilty. Pierre 's coaching career started with a bang when he was enlisted by Jake White to help coach the SA U21 side that won the World Championships in 2001. Most recently Pierre was involved in the Springbok coaching set-up during Ireland 's summer tour to South Africa and the successful Tri-Nations campaign.

The coaching sessions were a huge success with over 350 players and coaches of all ages turning up to get an insight into the latest leading edge coaching techniques. Pierre writes a regular feature in Emerald Rugby Magazine called 'Back to Basics' where all the principals and theories are explained in full.

This coaching initiative was the brainchild of Manus Lappin, the editor of Emerald Rugby Magazine. "It is our mission at Emerald Rugby Magazine to support and develop the grass roots game in Ireland , and what better way to do this than bring an international standard coach of Pierre 's pedigree to the heart of Irish grassroots rugby. This was a wonderful opportunity for clubs and schools, who are often overlooked, to learn from one of the best coaches in the business" said Lappin. Plans are already well under way for next year's roadshows, which will further build on this year's success.
